Stay In Compliance With Pay Transparency

Updated: Dec 12

On January 1st 2025, all Minnesota based employers with over 30 employees will be required to post wages within their job postings and provide a “good-faith estimate” of what a salary range should be.

Why does this matter to public school districts?

  • Many Minnesota public school districts don’t post a wage in their job postings. These postings would be immediately considered out of compliance.

  • Some Minnesota public school districts post wage ranges where the top end of the wage isn’t achievable. This would not be considered a good faith estimate, and would thus be out of compliance.

  • All Minnesota public school districts operate off of union contracts that are represented through long PDF documents outlining all pay scales and benefits. Many districts ask candidates to refer to these contracts as a description of their benefits. A posting might be considered out of compliance if it does not directly spell out the benefits in the posting.

How do you plan to react to this new policy? Will updating your job postings be a challenge?
